Welcome to Balsa Bench™. Here you will find balsa kits & a blog full of helpful tips for building & flying RC airplanes

Welcome to Balsa Bench™
Balsa Bench™ is dedicated to builders, flyers, and enthusiasts who appreciate the craft of traditional balsa‑wood RC airplanes. If you’re here, you’ve likely considered building a balsa model, or you’re already deep into the hobby. While today’s market offers many inexpensive foam aircraft ready to fly, there’s a reason so many pilots still choose balsa: performance.

Why Buy From Balsa Bench™
Choosing the right supplier matters, especially in a hobby where precision, accuracy, and trust directly affect the quality of your build. At Balsa Bench™, we take pride in offering short kits and products that support builders at every stage, from first‑time hobbyists to seasoned pilots.

We Include Complete, Accurate Plans
Every short kit we produce comes with the full set of plans required to build the model correctly. No guessing, no hunting for missing information, and no surprises. You receive everything you need to start your project with confidence.

We Respect Designers and Their Work
All of our kits are created responsibly and ethically. We do not infringe on the rights of designers, and we do not sell unauthorized reproductions. When you purchase from Balsa Bench™, you’re supporting legitimate craftsmanship and honoring the creators who make this hobby possible.

We Stand Behind Every Kit
Building a balsa airplane can be challenging, and we’re here to help. Whether you need clarification on a step, advice on materials, or guidance during the build, you can reach out anytime. We’re committed to supporting you, not just selling to you.

Transparent, Honest Products
Our kits are clearly described, properly photographed, and accurately represented. You’ll always know exactly what you’re receiving. No vague listings, no missing parts, and no “mystery kits.”

A Builder‑Focused Approach
Balsa Bench™ is run by a builder who understands the hobby from the inside. Every product is created with the same care and attention to detail used in personal builds. We’re here to help you succeed, enjoy the process, and fly a model you’re proud of.

Why Build With Balsa?
A well‑designed airplane must be both lightweight and rigid. Balsa construction achieves this balance better than foam, resulting in aircraft that fly cleaner, respond more precisely, and perform with a level of refinement foam simply can’t match. If you’ve flown foam RC planes, you’ll immediately notice the difference the first time you take a properly built balsa model into the air.

Why Build Your Own?
Pre‑built balsa planes do exist, but they’re often produced with cost‑cutting materials, minimal adhesives, and low‑wage labor. Quality varies widely, and many “short kits” or “kit cutters” offer incomplete or questionable products, sometimes without plans, photos, or proper rights to the designs. These sellers cannot support you and are often just looking to make a quick sale.

Building your own model ensures craftsmanship, accuracy, and reliability. When you build it yourself, you know exactly what’s inside your airplane, and you know it’s built right.

A Place to Learn, Build, and Improve
In the past, builders shared knowledge at flying fields or through hobby magazines. Today, that kind of mentorship can be harder to find. Balsa Bench™ exists to help new builders get started correctly, avoid common frustrations, and enjoy the process.

I focus primarily on sport models rather than scale detailing, and the site features step‑by‑step articles from my own projects to help you build accurately and efficiently. If you have questions or want to discuss a specific topic, feel free to reach out, I welcome conversation and community.

Real Workshops, Real Builds
You may notice in my photos that my workspace isn’t spotless. My building table is worn, the balsa dust isn’t always vacuumed, and the environment is far from pristine. That’s intentional. You don’t need an immaculate, high‑end workshop to build excellent airplanes. Skill matters far more than the room you’re working in.
